YASO launches China GEO — AI Search Optimisation for global brands in China

London and New York, 9 June 2026 — YASO, the China ecommerce platform and managed service company, has launched China GEO, a product that measures how global consumer brands are described, ranked and recommended by Chinese AI assistants.

The product went live on 8 June 2026 and was presented to brand founders and investors at the Dealmaker Summit in New York on 9 June, where Co-Founder Adam Knight featured on the panel "The Promised Land Revisited: Asia's New Beauty Power Map".

Around 720 million people in China now use generative AI tools, and 87% of Chinese consumers report using AI to find shopping information. Those conversations sit outside conventional ecommerce and search reporting. A brand can hold strong Tmall and Douyin performance while being absent, misdescribed or outranked inside the assistants that increasingly decide which products a consumer considers.

YASO's newly launched China GEO tracks brand visibility across the Chinese large language models that dominate consumer use: DeepSeek, Doubao, Kimi and Qwen, with Yuanbao added in July 2026. It measures performance across five dimensions — Presence, Ranking, Perception, Persuasion and Consistency — and tests them against five consumer intent scenarios: Formulation, Comparison, Issue, Fit and Moment. Those dimensions combine into a single AI visibility score a brand can track over time and benchmark against category competitors.

Rather than reporting only that a brand is mentioned, the tool reports where it sits in a recommendation, what attributes the model associates with it, which sources the model draws on, and whether that description holds consistent across models.

"This is the beginning of a generational shift in the ecommerce funnel. Hundreds of millions of Chinese consumers are already asking AI for product recommendations, getting an answer, and purchasing immediately. Our GEO tooling shows whether your brand appears for common consumer queries and why it does, or doesn't. It is for brands that are positioning themselves for the next big wave of growth."

— James Campbell, Co-founder, YASO

China GEO joins YASO's existing platform, which consolidates the complexity of China's ecommerce ecosystem into a single interface, updating stock, sales and customer data insights in 15-minute increments across Tmall, Douyin, RedNote, JD, Kuaishou and Poizon. The company operates on a revenue-share model with its brand partners, and its operators and founding team have launched more than 120 brands into the Chinese market.

China GEO is available as a standalone subscription at £200 per month per brand, and as a layer within the wider YASO stack.
